Who we are
@plate is operated by Heavy Lift Ventures Inc. (formerly Pulpo Partners Inc.), a Delaware corporation, 1649 Valencia Street, San Francisco, CA 94110. These terms are an agreement between you and Heavy Lift Ventures Inc.. "We" and "us" mean Heavy Lift Ventures Inc..
What @plate is
A communication relay that connects car owners with nearby people using license plates as identifiers. We verify that a plate belongs to you by reading a vehicle registration document you supply; we are not a government service and cannot confirm legal title.
Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement. By signing in you confirm that you are, and that the mobile number you use is yours.
Text messages
By signing in with your mobile number you agree to receive texts from @plate: one-time login codes, an invitation when another user shares a plate with you, and — where push notifications are unavailable — a notice that someone nudged your plate. These are service messages, not marketing. Message frequency varies with your own activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them, or HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
What you agree to
Use @plate for legitimate, neighborly communication. Don't use it to harass, threaten, stalk, or impersonate anyone. Don't register plates that aren't on a vehicle you use.
Prohibited uses
Harassment or threats. Commercial spam. Impersonation. Sending nudges you know to be false. Using the service to track or surveil individuals. Registering, claiming or adding to a group a plate you have no right to.
Your messages and photos
What you write and the photos you attach are yours. You give us permission to store them, show them to the people the product shows them to, and check them for abuse, which is what it takes to deliver them. You are responsible for what you send: it must be true as far as you know, and it must be about the car.
Enforcement
Violations may result in a warning, temporary suspension, or permanent ban. Phone numbers of banned users are added to a deny list. We cooperate with law enforcement when required by law.
No warranty
The service is provided as-is during beta. We make no guarantees about uptime, delivery reliability, or message receipt. A message that reaches a plate is not a promise that anyone read it, and @plate is not a substitute for calling for help in an emergency.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Heavy Lift Ventures Inc. is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of @plate or from anything another user does — including a message you receive, a message you send, or what happens between you and another driver afterwards. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to one hundred US dollars ($100). Some places do not allow these limits; where that is the case, they apply to the extent permitted.
Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against Heavy Lift Ventures Inc. because of what you did on @plate — a message you sent, a plate you registered or claimed that was not yours, or a breach of these terms — you agree to cover the resulting costs, including reasonable legal fees.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA. If you have a problem with us, email help@atplate.com first and we will try to sort it out within 30 days. Any dispute that cannot be resolved that way will be brought in the state or federal courts in San Francisco, California, and you and we each agree to that venue. Claims are brought individually, not as part of a class.
Changes
We may update these terms during beta. Material changes will be surfaced in the app before they take effect.
