The service
@plate lets someone send a short, anonymous message to the owner of a parked car using its license plate — “your lights are on”, “you're blocking a driveway”. Owners register their own plate and verify it against a vehicle registration document. No phone number is ever shown to another user; all messaging goes through @plate's relay.

How a user opts in
Opt-in is web-based and happens inside the @plate web app. There is no purchased list, no import, and no third-party lead source. Every number on the platform was typed by the person who owns it.
1. The user opens atplate.com and chooses to sign in.
2. On the sign-in screen they enter their own mobile number.
3. A one-time login code is sent to that number, and a code field appears on the same screen, under it. Login codes are sent by Twilio Verify and are outside the 10DLC campaign; they are the only message sent before consent is given.
4. Below the code field is a consent checkbox, unchecked by default. The “Log in” button stays disabled until it is ticked, so no message covered by the campaign is ever sent to a number whose owner has not ticked it. The checkbox reads:
I agree to receive text messages from @plate at this number: alerts when someone nudges my plate, and invitations when someone shares a plate with me. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. See our Privacy Policy and Terms.
The Privacy Policy and Terms are links on that same screen. Consent is recorded against the account, with a timestamp, when verification completes with the box ticked. This code step is the one place this disclosure appears, and every route into an account passes through it — so it is shown to returning users too, every time they sign in.
Plate-sharing invitations
One message type is addressed to a number the recipient did not type themselves: when a car is shared between two people — partners, family, housemates — the registered owner can invite the other person to co-own the plate, and enters their number to do it.
This is a single, user-initiated, one-to-one message. There is no follow-up and no sequence. Before it can be sent, the inviter must tick a separate checkbox, also unchecked by default:
This person has agreed to receive a text from @plate about this plate. We send them one message. They can reply STOP at any time.
The recipient can reply STOP to that message, which stops all future @plate messages to their number.
What we send
Four message types, all transactional. No marketing, ever.

Opt-in confirmation — one message, once, on first sign-in.
@plate: You are subscribed to alerts about your parked car and plate invites. Msg freq varies. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to stop.
Nudge alerts— when someone messages the user's registered plate and push notifications are unavailable on their device.

Reply STOP to opt out.
Plate-share invitations — as described above.

Message frequency varies and depends entirely on the user's own activity. Most users receive a few messages per month. Message and data rates may apply.
Opting out and getting help
Replying STOP — or STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END or QUIT — to any message unsubscribes the number immediately and stops all further messages. Replying START re-subscribes. Every message we send carries the STOP instruction.
@plate: You are unsubscribed and will receive no further messages from this number. Reply HELP for help or email help@atplate.com.
Replying HELP or INFO returns:
@plate: alerts about your parked car and plate-share invites. Msg freq varies. Msg&data rates may apply. Help: help@atplate.com. Reply STOP to opt out.
Users can also opt out or delete their data by emailing help@atplate.com.
Mobile numbers are never shared
No mobile information is sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Consent to receive text messages is never shared with anyone. Numbers reach service providers only as needed to deliver a message, and law enforcement only where required by law. Full detail in the Privacy Policy.
